Your right to cancel
The short version
If you agree work with us at your home, or over the phone, or by email, you have 14 days to change your mind.
You do not need a reason. This is your right in law and it applies to almost every job we do.
When the 14 days start
The day after you agree the work.
If you agree on a Monday, the last day to cancel is the Monday two weeks later.
How to cancel
Tell us. Any clear statement is enough. The easiest ways are:
Email [email protected]
Ring 07477 536 273
Write to 91 Alexander Road, Reigate, Surrey RH2 8EA
You can use the form at the bottom of this page, but you do not have to.
Sending it before the 14 days are up is what matters, not when it arrives.
If you were not given this in writing
The law says you must be given notice of this right in writing, on paper or in an email you can keep.
If you were not given it, your 14 days do not run out on time. The right can last up to a year longer.
For work agreed at your home, a trader who does not give you that notice is committing a criminal offence.
So ask for it in writing, and keep it.
If you want us to start inside the 14 days
Roof leaks do not wait a fortnight, so most people do.
We can make a start before the 14 days are up. The law says you have to ask us in writing first. Ask on the estimate or by email, and we can get on.
Two things follow from asking us to start early.
You still have the 14 days. Asking us to start does not cancel your right to change your mind.
If you do cancel part way through, you pay for the work already done, in proportion to the whole job. You do not pay for the rest.
If the whole job is finished inside the 14 days, the right ends when the work is done. That only holds if you asked in writing to start, and understood that the right ends on completion. That is the law, not our small print.
Getting your money back
If you cancel, anything you have paid comes back within 14 days of us being told.
We may take off the value of any work you asked us to do before you cancelled.
The urgent repairs exception
There is a narrow exception in the regulations, for urgent repairs and upkeep you asked us to come out and do.
It is narrow and it is easy to get wrong, so we do not rely on it. You get the 14 days on every job.
Cancellation form
You do not have to use this. Any clear statement works.
